Bellow elbow prosthesis

The below-ellbow prosthesis  offers a variety of potential uses while acknowledging awareness of the importance of aesthetic value of these devices.

Main aim was concerened around user and possibility of a modular design of prosthesis.

In addition to the usefulness of the prosthesis I wanted to find the easiest way to install it despite the length and shape of user’s amputation stump.

The prosthesis consists of a prosthetic layer and wrist unit. The layer is cut from polymer sheet, which is wrapped around the user’s amputation stump. In the environment where technology is not within reach, prosthesis can be pre cut and then modified on site.

Replacable 3D printed wrist unit provides user new expirience in the way they use prosthesis. Changing wrist units changes the purpose of the prosthesis. Prosthesis can be used as a passive – without wrist unit, mechanical or mioelectric prosthesis. Potenitial users are welcome to modify wrist unit with usage of autocad software into specific end-shaped wrist for specific type of work.
